This time last year we were all in the depths of lockdown and remote learning. Being in school this half term has been particularly poignant; we have seen so many examples of what it means to our young people, their families, our colleagues and the wider community to learn, work and celebrate together in person. The vibrancy and energy of school life has been further lifted this half term through some of the brilliant events and opportunities our young people have had – from primary dance workshops, Chinese new year celebrations, science experiments to careers workshops, guest visitors and the outstanding production of Grease. Our vision is being brought to life with SRS as a learning environment which hums with excitement. It has also been a ‘testing’ time – preparations for important assessments for all of our children, particularly those in Year 6, Year 11 and Year 13, who have sat mock papers and are working hard towards achieving their goals. With tests for students comes marking, boosters and interventions for teachers – all the stops are being pulled out to ensure our young people achieve their potential in every way. So, it’s time for a pause – a week of holiday to rest, unwind and enjoy a change of pace for a little while. Thank you for your hard work and support this half term and I wish you all a fantastic holiday! Mrs Cross Read the full newsletter here
